Captain Matthew Freeman Memorial Fund
The Captain Matthew Freeman Memorial Fund was established by Matthew’s family from the generous donations made upon his death. The fund gives an annual scholarship to a senior at Richmond Hill High School (Richmond Hill, GA) who is pursuing a post- secondary degree. Matthew and his wife Theresa were president and vice-president of the student counsel and graduated with honors from RHHS in 1998. It also helps fund “The Captain Matthew Freeman Project: Pens and Paper for Peace” which sends school supplies to our soldiers and Marines to distribute to children in war-torn countries.
A separate fund was established by the members of Wilton (Connecticut) High School class of 1969 to support literacy for Afghan children through the Help The Afghan Children (HTAC) with contributions targeted to support the HTAC’s “Read Afghanistan” literacy program. From these donations, nine libraries were built giving over 2,000 children access to books.
